National Finals Rodeo: Lockhart places again in 8th round

For the fifth time at the 2020 National Finals Rodeo, Circle's Lisa Lockhart placed in the money in the barrel racing at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Lockhart placed fourth in the eighth go-round of the barrel racing on Thursday with a time of 17.15 seconds to earn $11,000.

In her 14th NFR appearance, the 55-year-old Lockhart has shown a consistent performance at the NFR. After earning her first placing in the second go-round with a fifth-place finish, Lockhart won the third go-round last Saturday. She since has placed sixth in the fourth go-round and second in the sixth go-round.

After Thursday's performance, Lockhart advanced one spot to No. 5 in the world standings with $119,866.

It was an otherwise quiet night for the local competitors in Texas. Saddle bronc riders Brody Cress (Hillsdale, Wyoming) and Chase Brooks (Deer Lodge) both failed to record scores on Thursday. Cress remains third in the world standings with $158,193 while Brooks dropped one spot to No. 9 with $106,881.

Stevensville's Richmond Champion also failed to record a score in the bareback riding. Champion fell two spots in the world standings to No. 7 with $126,470.

Billings' Clay Tryan and Helena's Chase Tryan both failed to place in the money in the team roping. Clay Tryan and partner Jay Long of Coffeyville, Kansas, failed to record a time and Tryan dropped two spots to No. 7 in the world standings for team roping headers with $124,886. Chase Tryan and partner Brenten Hall of Jay, Oklahoma, completed their run in 19.1 seconds. Tryan remains at No. 13 for team roping heelers with $90,145.

Miles City's Haven Meged failed to record a time on Thursday but remains in seventh in the tie-down roping world standings with $115,248
