Wrestlers descend on Missoula for Jug Beck tournament

MISSOULA -- One of the largest wrestling tournaments of the season will take place on Friday and Saturday in Missoula.

The Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic will feature 31 teams from around the northwest at Sentinel High School. Teams hail from Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Washington. Wrestling will begin on Friday at 11 a.m. and will go through the quarterfinals and Round 3 of the consolation bracket.

The fourth round of the consolation bracket will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. The championship bracket semifinals will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the finals are scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Belgrade, Missoula Big Sky, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls CMR, Columbia Falls, Corvallis, Lewistown, Kalispell Flathead, Frenchtown, Kalispell Glacier, Great Falls High, Hamilton, Havre, Helena High, Helena Capital, Missoula Hellgate, Libby, Polson, Ronan, Sentinel and Superior will be the Montana schools in attendance.

The Jug Beck will feature eight wrestlers who were crowned champions at the tournament last season, which includes in-state champs Leif Schroeder of Bozeman, Havre's Mick Chagnon, Frenchtown's Walker Dyer and Jake Bibler, Lewistown's Cooper Birdwell and Great Falls' Elijah Davis and Ethan DeRoche.
