Missoula Hellgate sweeps city cross country meet

MISSOULA — The Missoula Hellgate cross country teams swept the boys and girls team titles at the Missoula city cross country meet on Tuesday at the Linda Vista Golf Course.

Hellgate's Abby Kendrick won the girls race with a time of 18 minutes, 45.48 seconds. Missoula Sentinel's Brooke Stayner was second and Hellgate's Izzy Munro was third. Hellgate had four finishers in the top five on the day.

Sentinel took second as a team while Missoula Big Sky was third.

On the boys side, Hellgate also got the team win thanks to a big performance from Ian Curtis, who won the race in 15:56.62. Sentinel's Mckay Hunter was second and Hellgate's Lukas Horejsi was third.

Sentinel also took second in the team scores on the boys side while Big Sky finished third.

Tuesday's race was the final competition for the Missoula schools before the state cross country meet which will be Saturday, Oct. 26, in Great Falls.
