MISSOULA -- Major League Baseball officially returned to action on Thursday.

And with regular-season games commencing on Opening Day, one Montanan will be there front and center when the Chicago White Sox take the field for the first time.

Missoula native Codi Heuer, 24, was officially listed on Chicago's 30-man Opening Day roster on Thursday as games began. The White Sox open their season on Friday against the Minnesota Twins.

This is Heuer's first time being named to a roster in the MLB. Heuer, who played college baseball at Wichita State, spent 2018 playing for the Great Falls Voyagers in the Pioneer League before playing for two teams in 2019. Heuer, a relief pitcher, played in 22 games for the Birmingham Barons, Chicago's AA team, where he compiled a 2-3 record, a 1.84 ERA in 29.1 innings pitched with 22 strikeouts and seven walks. He tallied nine saves with Birmingham.

Heuer then played for advanced-A Winston-Salem and in 20 games pitched 38.1 innings, threw 43 strikeouts, walked eight batters, had a 2.82 ERA and earned two saves.
