MSU-Northern falls to Eastern Oregon on the road

LA GRANDE, Ore – The MSU-Northern football team remains winless in the Frontier Conference after a tough 45-7 loss to Eastern Oregon on Saturday night.

The Mountaineers jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first half and added a field goal in the third quarter before the Lights could get on the board.

Brenden Medina found Jett Robertson for an 18 -ard touchdown pass with 5:45 remaining in the third quarter to make it 24-7.

Eastern Oregon found the end zone again less than two minutes later when Victor Diaz found Phoenix Millhollen for a 34-yard touchdown pass. After receiving the kickoff, Medina was picked off on the first play of the ensuing possession by Damari Cual-Davis, who returned the interception for a touchdown.

Diaz added a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to yield the final score.

Medina went 14-of-27 through the air for 151 passing yards, one touchdown and three interceptions for the Lights. Jett Robertson led the team in rushing with eight carries for 49 yards.

Jaren Maki led the Northern defense with nine tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss.

Eastern Oregon improves to 2-4 overall with a 2-3 mark in the Frontier. MSU-Northern falls to 1-5, 0-5. The Lights return home on Saturday for a matchup with Rocky Mountain College. Kickoff set for 1 p.m. at Blue Pony Stadium.
