BILLINGS – On a rainy Saturday night in Billings, Wyoming bull rider Clayton Savage was the only Round 3 competitor to take home a Yellowstone River Roundup event win, scoring 85.5 points aboard Hi Noon to win the bull riding crown in front of the grandstands at MetraPark.

Three riders tied for second at 83 points behind Savage, including J.T. Moore and Wylee Hurst on Saturday.

Jordan Pelton’s 85-point ride in Thursday’s first round ended up the winner in bareback. Ty Fast Taypotat jumped into second Saturday with 83 points. Three others tied for third at 82.5.

A Thursday rider also won the saddle bronc title as Cole Elshere’s 81 held up through the weekend. Idaho’s Wyatt Hurst posted the best Round 3 score with 77 points, good for seventh place. The top eight places earn money in each event.

Two Tryan brothers thrilled the hometown crowd in team roping Saturday night. Eleven-time NFR qualifier Travis Tryan looked like he and heeler Justin Viles had a 5.4-second run, but Viles only roped one leg and Tryan was whistled for breaking the barrier to bring them out of the money. Younger brother Brady Tryan managed a 5.6 with partner Kasper Roy, good for fifth place. Oldest brother Clay – a three-time world header champion – finished second after a 5.1-second ride Thursday. Derrick Begay and Cory Petska won the event with a 5.0.

Other winners included Riley Duvall (Steer Wrestling – 3.9 seconds), John Douch (Tie-Down Roping – 7.8 seconds), and Shelly Anzick (Barrel Racing – 17.16 seconds).
