AUSTIN – After recovering from a broken foot suffered in the fall, former Great Falls CMR star Josh Huestis made his debut with the Austin Spurs of the NBA G-League this week, an affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs.
Huestis played his first game of the 2018-19 season on Saturday, Jan. 5 against the Memphis Hustle, logging 17 minutes and scoring two points, with two rebounds. On Tuesday, Huestis scored six points and grabbed four rebounds in a loss to his old team, the Oklahoma City Blue.
On Thursday, Huestis recorded two blocks in 25 minutes in a loss to the Santa Cruz Warriors. One of the blocks came against former University of Montana guard Will Cherry, which was included in the G-League’s “Blocks of the Night” highlight reel.
Huestis, who signed with the Spurs in October after spending his first three NBA seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, doesn’t appear to have a large role within his team’s rotation as of yet, although the Spurs may slowly start to give him more playing time after returning from a lengthy absence.
