GREAT FALLS – The Great Falls Voyagers pulled out some fireworks of their own on Independence Day, earning a 6-5 walk-off win over the Missoula Osprey to pull into a tie for first place in the Pioneer League Baseball North Division.
Both teams played to a 5-5 tie after nine innings, but in the 10th with Alex Destino at second base with one out, Amado Nunez doubled to center to drive in the winning run. He earned a Gatorade bath in the process.
Nunez went 3-for-5 from the plate to lead the Voyagers’ offense. Bennett Souza earned his first professional win after throwing two scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts.
