GLENDIVE – Dawson Community College beat Dakota College Bottineau on Wednesday 3-0 in their conference volleyball opener. They improve to 2-0 on the young season.
The Lady Bucs built a commanding lead in the opening game and never looked back winning 25-11. DCC missed five serves in the second game but pulled away late for a 25-22 before winning the third, 25-15.
The Bucs were led by Shayna Baugh with 10 kills. Middle hitter Lexi Begger and Mara Johnson each had seven. Kylee Stump and Samantha Youngman led in assists with 14. Erin Campbell led the team with three aces to along with 13 kills.
Dawson travels to Sheridan, Wyoming, to play in a tournament starting Friday. The Bucs will face NJCAA DI schools Northwest College and Sheridan College, along with in-state rival Miles Community College.
Dawson’s first home game will be against Bismarck State College on September 12 at 7 p.m.
