GLENDIVE – Dawson Community College’s basketball women are once again among top teams in the nation for grade point average, according to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, which ranks schools from all divisions.

Last season, the Lady Buccaneers were selected as NJCAA Academic Honorable Mention. In the WBCA, the they were ranked No. 16 nationally with a team cumulative GPA of 3.098. This will be DCC’s third year in a row with national honors. In 2016, DCC was ranked No. 3 and in 2017 No. 4.

“It’s really rewarding to witness the reaping benefits of what truly embodies a student-athlete,” said head coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. “Our institution is thankful to have such outstanding young ladies representing our campus, having winning seasons on the basketball court and being successful in their academic studies. We absolutely challenge our players to embrace the grind of being a student-athlete, and so far they’ve accepted it by being honored with such distinction.”
