GLENDIVE – Former Dawson Community College student-athlete Chasity Pope of Opelika, Alabama, has signed a letter of intent to play for Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tennessee. Hiwassee College is part of the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA).

Last season, the Lady Tigers concluded a winning season with a record of 20-10, winning the first round of the NCCAA National Tournament defeating #6 seed Southwest Christian College of Texas in overtime. #7 Hiwassee lost in their next round to #4 Grace College of Indiana.

Chasity was part of Dawson’s second straight winning season in 2018.

“Buc Nation is proud of Chasity,” said 4th year head coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. “She still has skills to work on, but at least she has 3 seasons to do so. It was our goal for her to play one season in Glendive and move on to the 4-year level. All three of our sophomores have signed to the next level, and that is a major part of our mission at the two-year level.”

Pope was technically considered a freshman at Dawson but was a sophomore academically due to being a transfer from a university in Alabama. As a Lady Buc, she averaged four points and five rebounds a game.

She signed letting it be known she isn’t a quitter.

“I’ve never liked running, but I won’t let that stop me from chasing my dreams,” said Pope, “I’m blessed for the opportunity to be a Tiger… same grind, different location.”
