GREAT FALLS – For an eighth consecutive year, the Great Falls CMR girls team topped Great Falls High for the crosstown city cross country meet title. And for a second straight year, MacKenzie Dean finished way ahead of the pack.

The Rustlers’ junior finished more than a minute ahead of second-place teammate McKenzie Connell with a time of 20 minutes, 47.06 seconds for medalist honors. CMR swept the top four spots for a dominant showing. Great Falls High’s Jada Maynor was the fastest Bison runner with a 22:39.40 time to finish fifth overall.

The boys race was much closer. No one could gain much separation until the last half-mile, when CMR’s Gordon Gentry broke away from the pack for his first city title championship in a time of 17:01.01.

Rustler teammate Connor O’Hara finished second in 17:15.16. Great Falls High’s Henry Kakalecik led the Bison with a third-place finish at 17:52.16. The CMR boys earned their thirteenth consecutive city team title.
