GREAT FALLS -- Providence athletic programs continue to ink local stars, and the Argo softball team added one of the best catchers in the state on Tuesday.

Great Falls CMR senior Kiely Gunderson signed with head coach Joey Egan and the Argos Tuesday afternoon. Gunderson batted .317 and led the Rustlers in runs this past spring season.

But she had a very good resource who could tell her everything she needed to know about the Argos. Her new head coach, Alex Lowry, also happens to be a former Rustler and Argo great.

“I know Alex Lowry used to go here and has talked it up,” Gunderson said. “It made me realize how good the program is. I’ve gone to a few games, I love the girls and it’s all around a good program.”

Lowry, who spent the past two seasons as a CMR assistant under Lindsey Gustafson, believes Gunderson has the work ethic to thrive at the collegiate level.

"The thing about Kiely is and what I love most about her as an athlete is she’s so versatile,” Lowry said. “She catches for us but she could play anywhere, I could stick her at shortstop, third, outfield. We could put anywhere and I think Joey will love that as well.”
