Helena Capital sees ‘good opportunity’ against Missoula Hellgate, Sentinel

HELENA — Missoula Hellgate and Missoula Sentinel are at the top of the Western AA boys basketball standings, and those two teams will play against the Helena Capital Bruins this week.

On Feb. 7, the Bruins will make the trek to Missoula’s south side to take on the Sentinel Spartans, and on Feb. 9 the Bruins will stay in the Capital City and play host to Hellgate, the top team in the Western AA.

Though facing the top two teams in the Western AA may seem daunting, Bruins head coach Guy Almquist sees the two-game stand as a good opportunity for his squad.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to get a big win in conference. It’ll go a long way down the road in terms of tiebreakers and standings in terms of seeding for divisionals,” said Almquist. “We’re focused on us, we think we’ve yet to play our best basketball. I think our conference is growing and we’re just working to add a few wrinkles here and there, but just trying to fine-tune things as we get towards the end of the year.”
