BELGRADE — The Belgrade and Great Falls CMR boys and girls soccer teams played a Class AA doubleheader on Saturday.

The boys played the second game after the girls tied at 0-0.

In the boys game, it was 1-1 late in the first period when a pass found Belgrade's Trevor Gordon, who found the back of the net to give the Panthers the 2-1 lead.

CMR answered back in the beginning of the second period, though, as Trey Mans found the back corner of the net to tie the game at 2-2.

With just seconds remaining, Belgrade’s Christian Aitchison gave his team the victory with a goal on the far side of the net that went right past the arms of the outstretched goalie.

With the 3-2 win, Belgrade got its first-ever Class AA win. It was also the first win for new head coach Sidney McCauley, who is believed to be the first-ever woman to be a head coach of a boys-only program in Class AA history.

“They were all super tired. We just played on Thursday, but they just persevered, they just keep playing really hard," she said. "It means so much. The boys work so hard throughout all of our tryouts and everything, it really paid off."
