GREAT FALLS — The Great Falls High wrestling team defeated Great Falls CMR 51-13 on Friday night in the first crosstown dual of the season.

It was the 15th consecutive regular-season crosstown dual win for the Bison, who have dominated the rivalry for the past decade.

The Bison opened up a 12-0 lead after pins from Cooper Samson (103 pounds) and Gavin Cotton (113) before Logan Younkin put the Rustlers on the board with CMR’s only pin of the night at 120 pounds.

There were a lot of close matches in the middle weights, including two that went to sudden victory overtime. Teancum Palmer (126), Mason Huber (138), Irish Furthmyre (145) and Cache Hilliard (152) picked up wins for Great Falls High, while Zach Ewalt (132) and AJ LaFurge (160) earned decision wins for CMR entering the final four weight classes.

That’s where the strength of the Bison lineup closed things out.

After an open forfeit at 170 pounds, Liam Swanson (182), Elijah Davis (205) and Ethan DeRoche (285) recorded pins to close out the dual.

These two teams will face each other again at the CMR Fieldhouse on Feb. 23.
