District 10C: Augusta girls, Simms boys win 10C titles

CASCADE — The Augusta girls topped Valier 63-49 on Saturday in the District 10C championship to win their second straight district title.

Payton Levine led all scorers with 19 points, while senior Olivia Isaakson added 18 for Augusta. Emma Valdez and Hannah Monroe led Valier with 14 apiece.

Augusta will earn the No. 1 seed out of the 10C and will face District 8C No. 2 seed Belt in the first round of the Northern C divisional tournament.

Valier will be the No. 2 seed from the 10C and will face District 9C No. 2 seed Fort Benton, while Cascade locked up the No. 3 seed with a win over Simms in the consolation final earlier in the day. The Badgers will face 9C No. 3 seed Box Elder in the play-in game for a chance to face 8C No. 1 seed Roy-Winifred.

BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP: Simms 60, Heart Butte 48

SIMMS — The Simms boys pulled away and extended their undefeated season with a 60-48 win over Heart Butte in the District 10C title game.

The game was tied at 26 after two quarters, but the Tigers outscored the Warriors in the second half for the win.

Caden Smerker led all scorers with 20 points for Simms, while Carter McDaniel scored 16 and Kaiden Thibert added 10.

Cameron Falcon scored 18 to lead the Warriors, with Jordan Calf Looking scoring 10.

Simms will face Roy-Winifred in the first round of the Northern C divisional tournament on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., while Heart Butte opens against District 9C runner-up Chinook. Dutton-Brady won the consolation final and will face Chester-Joplin-Inverness on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
