HELENA — The Helena Capital boys basketball team had it going on Thursday as the Bruins downed the Helena High Bengals, 57-36.

The Bruins maintained a single-digit lead through most of the first quarter, but from there the Bruins poured it on.

The Bengals made just four shots from the floor in the first half. The Bruins made 16 in the first half and led 39-10.

From there, the lead was insurmountable for the Bengals, but it didn't appear as if they'd given up hope. In the fourth quarter, the Bengals put up 14 points to the Bruins' six to gain some ground on their rival.

However, the Bruins' lead was just too much as they picked up the 57-36 win.

Brayden Koch led the game with 24 points, and seven other Helena Capital players recorded points on the night. Sam Norum led the way for the Bengals with 10 points.

Up next for the Capital boys is Kalispell Flathead. The Bruins will host the Braves next Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Conversely, the Helena High Boys will host the Kalispell Glacier Wolfpack, also next Thursday at 7:15 p.m., before they swap opponents and square off against the other on Saturday.
