HELENA, Mont. — Christine Denny’s last second three-pointer rolled out and the No. 8 Carroll College Saints fell in Great Falls to the No. 22-ranked Providence Argonauts on Friday evening.

In a gritty battle, Providence’s rebounding advantage may have tipped the scales in the Argonauts’ favor. UP (15-8, 4-7 Frontier) out-rebounded CC (15-7, 7-4) 50-26, according to the box score.

“You don’t win games giving up 20 offensive rebounds,” Saints coach Rachelle Sayers told Sports 94.9 in a post-game interview.

Carroll had a tough shooting night, hitting 39 percent of its shots from the field and 15 percent of its threes. Despite the woes, the Saints took a lead with 3:43 left after Brittney Johnson sank a three-pointer from the corner.

Hannah Dean pushed the Saints lead to 53-50 after she hit a free throw, but two buckets from the Argos put them back on top for good.

Hannah Dean led the Saints with 14 points, followed by Christine Denny’s 12 and Dani Wagner’s 10.

Emilee Maldonado led the Argonauts with 18 points on 5-for-17 shooting.

Carroll plays in Havre tomorrow night against Montana State-Northern.
