Rocky Mountain College shuts out Carroll to open 2018 season

Posted

BILLINGS – The Rocky football team came in to 2018 with high hopes and a preseason ranking of 20th in the nation. They lived up to the hype in the season opener on Thursday night.

The Battlin’ Bears defense dominated from start to finish, including a pick six to open the third quarter, as Rocky shut out Carroll 19-0 at the Rocky Bowl.

Former Billings Senior star Nate Dick scored the only offensive touchdown on the night with a 6 yard draw early in the second quarter and Rocky took a 13-0 lead into halftime.

Billy Williams opened the third with the pick six and then it became the Ryder Rice show. The junior defensive end terrorized Carroll quarterback Reese Hiibel nearly every time he dropped back.

Rice dropped Hiibel four times in the second half alone and the rest of the defense did not disappoint. The Rocky defense held Carroll scoreless on opening night and the offense did just enough to bring home the victory.

Rocky’s next game is September 1st at MSU-Northern.
