HAVRE — Montana State University-Northern volleyball coach Rose Obunaga has resigned, according to MSU-Northern athletic director Christian Oberquell. Per a release from the Lights athletics department, Obunaga said she had to take the opportunity to be closer to her family.

“Despite wanting to be here and working with the girls, I also miss my family,” Obunaga said. “I would like to wish my team good luck and hope that they will be able to adjust to the changes.”

Obunaga’s husband currently resides in Savannah, Georgia, and her daughter lives in Norfolk, Virginia.

In two seasons under Obunaga, the Skylights finished 10-42 overall, with just a 1-24 mark in 2018.

“We are sad to see Rose go,” Oberquell said. “She did a lot for our department and for the volleyball program. She will be missed.”

A search for Obunaga’s replacement will begin immediately according to Oberquell.
