Providence volleyball team splits matches at Grand View tournament

GRAND VIEW, Iowa -- The University of Providence volleyball team split it's four matches over the weekend at the Grand View tournament in Iowa. The Argos (16-5) picked up two wins Friday beating Ottawa University 3-2 and then Saint Ambrose University 3-1.

Saturday was a different story as the Argos battled the No. 4 ranked Viterbo University losing 0-3 with scores of 25-23, 25-19, 25-21. All games were very close, but Argos the Argos had trouble finishing according to head coach Arunas Duda.

In the final match of the tournament, Proividence faced the host team Grand View. The match went a full five sets but the Argos fell 3-2 (26-24, 22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 14-16) to fall to 0-2 on the day and 2-2 for the tournament.

Leading the way for the Argos in the final match was Kelsey Shaver with 29 kills and 21 digs. Jensyn Turner put away 22 kills and 3 blocks. Coach Arunas Duda noted that Cydney Finburg-Roberts led the team in assist with 64 and picked up 13 digs.

The Argos next travel to No. 16 Montana Tech (17-5) to try and revenge a loss from earlier this season.
