HAVRE -- The Providence Argos enjoyed a couple days off for the Thanksgiving break before hitting the court Saturday night. Both the women’s and men’s teams traveled to Havre to play Yellowstone College, earning the sweep.

The Argo women start the night with an 85-33 victory. Ten Argos scored in the contest led by Bailey Cartwright with 16 points. Emilee Maldonado had 12, Jenna Randich 11, Parker Esary chipped in 10, Brooklyn Harn scored 9 and Cameron Cady came off the bench to score 8 points in the victory. The Yellowstone Christian team was led in scoring by Hanna Hayes who finished with 11.

“What I’m most impressed about is all our team played good defense tonight. The things we’ve been working on in practice defensively showed a lot better tonight,” said Argos women’s coach Bill Himmelberg. “I’m really proud on how our first team came out in the second half and got things going.”

The Argo men won in convincing fashion, 91-54. Joel Thabize had his best game of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

“We were really aggressive on defense in this game,” said Argos men’s coach Steve Keller. “We worked hard all week on improving our defense and we are getting better at closing out on players.”

Rashee Stocks led the Argos in scoring with 16 points. Derrian Reed, from Yellowstone Christian, led all scorers with 26 points in the loss.

The Argos will get right back in the gym to gear up for the start of the Frontier Conference season. On Thursday, Rocky Mountain College will travel to the McLaughlin Center. Women tip off at 5:30 p.m. and men at 7:30 p.m.
