HELENA, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball team fell to No. 25 Carroll College 64-58 on Saturday night.
The Argos (1-3, 10-6) held a lead for a majority of the game, taking a 33-24 into halftime. The Fighting Saints (3-1, 11-5) outscored the Argos 40-25 in the second half, including 20-8 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
"You have to give a lot of credit to Carroll," head coach Bill Himmelberg said. "I thought they executed in the fourth quarter pretty well and we just didn't. You have to give them credit for what they did."
The Saints were led by Christine Denny, who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Sienna Swannack added 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, while Danielle Wagner added 11 points, 7 boards and five assists.
Kenedy Cartwright scored 15 points for the Argos. Emilee Maldonado netted 14 points, while Bailey Cartwright scored 13 points. Parker Esary added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
"We played great, we just didn't finish tonight," Himmelberg said. "We followed the game plan pretty well but just didn't hit shots when it mattered. We're making big strides. We just have to execute better."
The Argos will look to rebound against Montana Tech on January 16 at 5:30 p.m.
