HAVRE -- Montana State University-Northern men’s basketball coach Shawn Huse has announced the signing of Three Forks star Micaiah Hauser.
Hauser, a 6-foot guard, averaged 20.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1.5 assists this season. He was named to both the All-State and All-District 5B teams. Three Forks finished 20-5 and qualified for the State Class B Tournament in Butte. At the tournament, the Wolves upended Powell County 38-35 in the first round, then fell to eventual co-champion Fairfield in the semi-finals. Following the semi-finals, the remainder of the tournament was cancelled due to Coronavirus cases in Montana.
“Micaiah made our day today in this challenging world we are all in. He is a fantastic kid, first and foremost. A tough, tough competitor who has been coached well throughout his upbringing and overcame injury hurdles, Micaiah is a true example of hard work," Huse said. "We love what he brings to the gym each day. Micaiah is very athletic and truly possesses the grittiness that you see, and that is needed, in the Frontier Conference. As with anyone making the jump to four-year basketball, there is a learning curve. That being said, he is a student of the game who has proven time and again that he can take on and overcome challenges with the best of them.”
Huse added, “Micaiah is a great student who works very hard at his studies as well. We feel he epitomizes what our team is about, and will it in well and enhance who we are. MSU-Northern and Havre landed another quality guy today.”
Hauser joins a Lights squad that finished 20-12 in 2019-2020. They advanced to the semi-final round of the Frontier Conference Tournament before falling 68-73 at eventual champion Lewis-Clark State.
