HAVRE – Third-year Montana State University-Northern football coach Andrew Rolin unveiled the Lights' initial 2020 recruiting class on National Signing Day – a list that will continue to grow over the coming days and weeks.

“Our assistant coaches have done a nice job of evaluating and bringing in the right kind of guys to fit our program both on the field and off the field,” Rolin told MTN Sports on Wednesday. “I’m excited about the guys that we’ve signed thus far, and we’ve got some more to sign.”

So far, the Lights have signatures from 11 recruits and expect to add many more before spring drills open in March. Of the 11 signees on the initial list, three of them hail from Montana: Havre lineman Kasee Henderson, Miles City defensive end Jacolby Mattoon, and Great Falls High wide receiver Trey Short.

“They’re the type of guys that love football, love to win, love to do well academically and they fit our culture,” Rolin said.

Though the Lights haven’t seen much on-field success in Rolin’s brief time in charge, he says that behind the scenes his staff and his team are doing everything right. He's excited about the guys he and his staff are bringing to Havre and is confident that that winning will follow.

“We’ve built this thing from the ground up and we say we’ve built it ‘brick by brick’, and that’s what we’ve done with these kids,” Rolin added. “They are the right kind of kids for Northern and the right guys to build a conference championship-caliber program. I’m excited for where we’re at right now and looking forward to a couple more decisions to be made here soon.”
