HELENA -- In front of friends, family and former and future coaches, Ryan Quinn signed his letter of intent to play soccer for Carroll College on Wednesday.

Quinn, a three-sport athlete for Helena Capital, said playing for the Fighting Saints in the fall was the best option for him if he wanted to stay close to home.

"I hadn't been able to do campus visits anywhere else," Quinn said in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. "To be able to go to school somewhere I've been to a lot made it an easy choice."

Being a three-sport athlete, Quinn said balancing his time wisely, both on and off the field, will only be a plus to the Fighting Saints.

"It'll help me, for sure -- to keep on top of grades and all that and just to be able to give all that I can for Carroll soccer," said Quinn.

Quinn is the third Helena Capital product that will dot the Carroll College men's soccer roster. Carroll men's soccer coach Doug Mello said the reason that's the case is because the program those players are coming from is solid.

"Success, and certainly they had that last season. The boys have been playing hard for their careers. We always like to get some local players to go on and have a nice mixed bag of players from in the city, in the state, in the country, out of the country," said Mello. "If we feel they're going to help our program, we're just happy to get good characters in here, and the boys at Capital certainly fit the bill."
