SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Bennett Hostetler is off to a torrid start to his senior season with the North Dakota State baseball program.
The Bozeman product was named the Summit League baseball player of the week on Monday, his second such award of the season and third of his career. Hostetler went 7 for 11 at the plate with four RBI and six stolen bases in the three victories over Dayton last week. The Bison (10-3) defeated the Flyers 5-1 on Friday, 9-1 on Saturday and 4-3 on Sunday.
Hostetler had multiple hits in each of those wins, including a 3-for-3 effort in on Saturday when he also stole four bases. In Sunday's victory, he went 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI.

Hostetler, a 6-foot shortstop, is making the most of his second senior season. Last year, he started all 17 games, hitting .216 with a .412 slugging percentage and .432 on-base percentage, before the season was ultimately canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He's been red-hot to start the 2021 season, hitting .455 in 13 games. He's slugging .591, has on-base percentage of .591 and already has a career-high 11 stolen bases. Hostetler leads the Bison in average, slugging, walks (nine), on-base percentage and stolen bases. He's tied for the team lead with 20 hits and is tied for second with 11 RBI.
