BOZEMAN — The Montana State men’s rugby team dominated its home Rugby 7’s Tournament over the weekend, winning the championship after defeating Air Force in the finals, 27-0.

The Bobcats cruised in their first game against the University of Wyoming, blanking the Cowboys 36-0. Five different players had tries for MSU in the win.

Montana State faced Boise State University in its second game. Austin Llewellyn had a 60-meter try in the second minute of the game and MSU never looked back as the Bobcats took down the Broncos, 19-5.

Then they easily handled the Falcons in the championship game. The Cats outscored their opponents by a total of 82-5 over their three games in the tournament.

The Cats, who are a club team with the university, have exploded onto the rugby scene recently as they have become a frequent face at the national tournament in both 15’s and 7’s. Their next step is preparing for the national qualifiers at Air Force on Monday, May 20.
