BOZEMAN — The Montana State University hockey team dropped two games to the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. over the weekend.

Mary came into the game with a perfect 12-0 record, with impressive wins against the University of Denver (ACHA) and University of North Dakota (ACHA).

On Saturday, the Bobcats fell 6-2. Ryan Padden and Josiah Pilskalns netted both the MSU goals.

“We lost the game in five-minute sections, periods where we would fall asleep and sit back,” Padden said. “That was one of the best teams in the country, and we set a mark to be right there with them and I think we can achieve that goal.”

On Sunday, in the second game, the Bobcats led Mary 2-1 after the first period but would fall 5-2. Kody Thomas and Connor Stefan would have the goals for the Bobcats.

“I thought we competed hard. In the first game, we both had 33 shots. In the second game, we were leading 2-1 after the first period and we were in the game to the very end, ” said MSU coach Dave Weaver. “We need to learn to play a full 60-minute game. We have moments in games where we need to learn to keep up our intensity.”

MSU will return to North Dakota this weekend to take on the Dakota College Jacks. Montana State’s next home series will be on Oct. 27-27 against Providence. For more info, check out msuhockey.com.
