MISSOULA – The Montana Grizzlies’ volleyball team has only two wins on the season, but its performance over the weekend might be a turning point in the season.

The Griz beat a tough opponent in Gonzaga on Saturday afternoon, taking the match in five sets. The Griz feel they finally played their style of volleyball and did everything they’ve been working on to secure the victory. Head coach Allison Lawrence said the environment really helped, too, with the fans rocking Dahlberg Arena and even said it was the best performance she’s seen at home in her time at the university.

“It was huge. It felt like a complete turning point,” said UM’s Missy Huddleston. “We know what we’re capable of, and to come off the two first games against Gonzaga and really taking care of business, and then we had two kind of rough games, and to come back in the fifth set and just rally just showed what we’re capable of, and we’re excited.”
