OGDEN, U.T. – The Big Sky Conference announced its Track and Field Athlete of the Week selections on Tuesday, Jan. 30, and MSU senior thrower Kyle Douglass earned Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season.

Kyle Douglass moved up to first on the Big Sky performance list during a first-place performance at the Powder River Dual on Saturday. Douglass threw a lifetime best mark of 60-05.25 in the shot put, crossing over 60 feet in the event for the first time in his career. Douglass’s best throw of the season puts him at 32nd in the nation and is a 1 ½ feet ahead of the next Big Sky competitor.

His mark also moved him up from fifth to third all-time in program history in the event, trailing only Scott Steckel (1984) and Blake Jackson (2004), while passing Dennis Black (1994) and Lance Deal (1981).

Douglass was previously named Big Sky Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Bobcat Preview in Worthington Arena on Dec. 2. The Missoula, Mont., native earned the honor once as both a junior and sophomore during the indoor season and once as a junior during the outdoor season.

The Bobcats’ track and field teams return to Worthington Arena on Friday, Feb. 2, for the Bobcat Invitational. Events are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
