With Saturday's win at Western Illinois, Montana State moved up to eighth in the latest edition of the STATS FCS Top 25 football rankings. The Bobcats are 14th in the coaches' poll.
Montana State still trails two Big Sky Conference teams in the STATS rankings, as UC Davis sits fourth and Weber State sixth. Eastern Washington, which gave up 21 fourth-quarter points in a 49-45 loss to Jacksonville State last weekend, is 11th, and Montana is 19th to give the Big Sky Conference five teams in the top 25. The Grizzlies suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, a 35-3 setback at FBS No. 16 Oregon.
The coaches rank the Big Sky teams similarly: UC Davis fourth, Weber State seventh, Eastern Washington 11th and Montana 19th.
Northern Arizona, Sacramento State and Cal Poly also received votes in one or both of the polls.
North Dakota State, James Madison, South Dakota State, UC Davis and Towson make up the top five in both polls, which can be found by clicking here.
Both the Bobcats and Grizzlies return home this week to wrap up their non-conference schedules. MSU (2-1) hosts Norfolk State (1-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday, while UM hosts Monmouth (2-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
