Fairfield's Natalie Klinker, now a senior at Idaho, nets Big Sky Conference honor

FARMINGTON, Utah -- Fairfield native Natalie Klinker has been named the Big Sky Conference women's basketball player of the week, the league announce Monday.

Klinker, a senior at Idaho, averaged 11 points and 16 rebounds per game last week as the Vandals earned a conference-opening sweep of Sacramento State. She had a team-high 15 points on 67 percent shooting in Friday's 97-73 win, also adding 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. On Saturday, she grabbed 19 rebounds, including nine on the offensive end, as the Vandals notched an 81-70 win.

For the week, Klinker averaged 11 points, 16 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assist per game. She totaled 17 offensive rebounds, which helped Idaho to 48 second-chance points.

Idaho (2-0) is scheduled for non-conference games at Texas on Dec. 9, at Washington State on Dec. 13 and home versus Seattle on Dec. 21. The Vandals return to Big Sky Conference play on Dec. 31 at Northern Arizona.

Klinker was an all-state player and three-year starter at Fairfield, helping the Eagles to a runner-up finish in 2016 and a Class B state championship in 2017.
