LAS VEGAS – After locking up the first playoff spot of Division B in PBR’s Monster Energy Team Challenge presented by U.S. Border Patrol, last night, Team Ariat wasn’t able to continue its winning ways inside South Point Arena on Saturday, tying Team Boot Barn 86.75-86.75. While both squads brought firepower into the game, with three Built Ford Tough MVP candidates, the bovine athletes laid the hammer to both teams in Game One of Challenge Day 11. Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas) broke through for the lone ride for Team Boot Barn, besting Heartaches & Grease (Stockyards/Pritchett Ranch/Melton Bull Co) for 86.75 points after being awarded two re-rides in the first half. Tyler Bingham (Tremorton, Utah) was the only rider to make the 8 for Team Ariat, conquering Dusty’s Revenge (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls) for 86.75 points. No. 4 in the Built Ford Tough MVP standings, Team Ariat’s Ky Hamilton (Mackay, Queensland, Australia) went 0-for-1 on the night, and was ruled out of his second half bull after taking a shot to the chin on his first half bull. Hamilton is questionable for Challenge Day 12 with a possible left jaw fracture. With the tie, Team Ariat still controls its own destiny in the PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge at 4-0-1. Team Boot Barn moved to 2-2-1, sitting in third place. Team Boot Barn takes on Team South Point (3-2) in the deciding game for playoff spot No. 3 on Sunday at 11:45 a.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

Shane Proctor Rides Team South Point to Third Win, Keeping Playoff Hopes Alive

Team South Point: 88.75 points
Team Cat: 0 points

LAS VEGAS – Once the dirt settled inside South Point Arena from the bucking of Game Two of Challenge Day 11, Shane Proctor (Grand Coulee, Washington) stood alone as a one-man wrecking crew for Team South Point, which needed a win to keep its playoff hopes alive. Proctor rode to 88.75 points aboard High Razor (Humpz and Hornz/Sis ‘N’ Stand Bucking Bulls) in the first half, which would be the difference in the game. With the ride, Proctor improved to 4-for-8 during the PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge with an aggregate score of 349.25 points, good enough to move into fifth-place for the Built Ford Tough MVP award. Team Cat remains winless after the shutout, dropping to 0-5, and has been eliminated from playoff contention. Team South Point gained sole possession of third-place with the victory, improving to 3-2 on the season and plays Team Boot Barn (2-2-1) on Sunday.

“Shane is an all-star, we all know that,” said Team South Point Captain Cody Nance. “He’s been riding bulls longer than I have; we’re grateful to have him on the team. We aren’t going to stop. We came up short yesterday, but we’ve got to keep rolling.”

“[Cody] Nance is just like me,” said Shane Proctor. “We’re built to get stepped on and keep on grinding. We get on a lot of bulls, and we need that in this format.”

Team Pendleton Whisky Punches Ticket to Championship Weekend in Sioux Falls with Win Number Four

Team Pendleton Whisky: 88 points
Team Lucas Oil: 86.5 points

LAS VEGAS – On the final game Saturday night at South Point arena, Team Pendleton Whisky became the second team in Division B of PBR’s new team tournament to punch its ticket to PBR’s Monster Energy Team Challenge championship weekend in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, July 10-12. While Team Pendleton Whisky set a tournament record with five qualified rides on Friday night in defeating Team Cat, it would need only one strong ride tonight to make the playoffs –an 88-point effort from captain Marco Eguchi (Poa, Brazil) aboard Marquis Metal Works Draggin Up (Paradigm Bull Co/Marquis Metal Works). Team Lucas Oil Captain Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana) got back on the right track, going 1-for-2 with his squad’s only 8 second effort, an 86.5-point trip aboard Space Monkey (Diamond Bar Cattle). While the victory locks Team Pendleton Whisky into championship weekend, an arm injury to Lucas Divino (Nova Crixas Goias, Brazil) could keep him out of competition for Challenge Day 12 in the highly anticipated Game of the Week on CBS against Team Ariat (4-0-1) at 1 p.m. ET. The win propelled Team Pendleton Whisky to 4-1 in Division B competition, while Team Lucas Oil fell to 1-4 and was eliminated from playoff contention.

“We really are having to fight,” said Team Pendleton Whisky Captain Marco Eguchi. “It gets hard with some injuries. But we’re doing our best during the week; we’re working out and trying to stay healthy.”
