BILLINGS — Miles City phenom Haven Meged recorded an event-best 7.6-second tie down roping run Friday night to highlight the second night of the NILE Rodeo inside First Interstate Arena.
The 21-year-old Meged, who will enter his first National Finals Rodeo in December at No. 2 in the PRCA world standings, told MTN Sports earlier Friday that he was excited about his draw, and it proved to be true. Meged now sits No. 2 in the NILE average at 17.3 on two head, behind only Riley Pruitt's 16.7 total.
Meged is off to a fast start in the 2020 season, after he earned $119,878.84 during the 2019 season, just $12,021.11 behind world No. 1 Caleb Smidt.
Elsewhere, Corvallis' Caleb Bennett jumped into second in the NILE bareback competition with 85 points aboard Show Boat. Jamie Howlett leads after an 88 Friday night.
Jake Lockwood, younger brother of PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood, is second in bull riding after an 84 Friday. Hawk Whitt leads with an 88 aboard Kilroy.
The NILE Rodeo's final night kicks off Saturday at 7 p.m.
