BILLINGS — Michigan tie-down roper Cody McCartney stole the spotlight during the final round of the Yellowstone River Roundup Rodeo Saturday night, tying for the overall win at 9.0 seconds at the Metrapark Grandstands.

McCartney split the win with Caddo Lewallen. Bryce Bott finished third at 9.2 seconds. 21-year-old Miles City star Haven Meged, currently No. 3 in the PRCA world tie-down standings, missed his calf.

South Dakota cowboy Lane Schuelke also earned a nice paycheck on the final night, riding Shining Mountain for 82 points to split second and third in saddle bronc. Deer Lodge's Chase Brooks, No. 5 in the world standings, won the event with 86 points.

Several other Montanans jumped into the money Saturday. Dillon bareback rider Tristan Hansen split fifth and sixth with 83 points on Sozo. Devan Reilly won the title with 86 points.

Twin Bridges steer wrestler Newt Novich earned a split of 4th/5th/6th with a 4.1-second ride. Bridger Anderson was first in 3.6 seconds, with Matt Reeves just behind at 3.7.
