SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) rode his way to his fourth PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast event win of the 2019 season at the PFIwestern.com Invitational, the season’s final three-day event.

Just one week after winning the two-day Anaheim Invitational, the 2017 Rookie of the Year went back-to-back as he rode Rusted Metal (Torres Brothers Bucking Bulls LLC) in Round 3 for 85.5 points. The qualified ride put him in a position to select Biker Bob (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls) for his championship round bull.

The Brazilian cowboy went on to record an impressive 92 points in the championship round, propelling him to the win and securing his league-leading 11th 90-point ride. He took home $37,445.16 and earned 660 world points to extend his lead in the world standings ahead of No. 2 Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) to 821.66 points.

The lead is the largest held by a world No. 1 since Week 6 of competition when Lockwood led No. 2 Chase Outlaw (Hamburg, Arkansas) by 625 points.

Ezekiel Mitchell (Rockdale, Texas) took home second place for the weekend and would have won the event had Leme not made a qualified ride on his final bull. In Round 3, the Texas cowboy scored 87 points aboard Let’s Gamble (Hodges/Shuler/Flying S) and was then matched with Sky Harbor (Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Wilks Ranch/Paradigm Bull Co) in the final round. Even though he came down early in the championship round, the young gun walked away with $17,996.83 and 380 world points, jumping him from No. 19 to No. 11 in the world standings and moving him to No. 1 in the Rookie of the Year race.

Third place in Springfield went to Brazilian Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil), who scored 85.5 points aboard Cody Bill (Bill Henson/Gene Owen) in Round 3. Vieira went on to the championship round against Oz (TNT Bucking Bulls / Hart Cattle Co.), where he earned 87.75 points. The veteran rider left Missouri with $11,428.97 and 275 world points, holding steady in his No. 4 place in the world.

Alisson de Souza (Taubate, Sao Paulo, Brazil) came in fourth place for the weekend after riding Crazy Wolfy (Futrell/D&H Cattle Co) in Round 3 for 73 points. De Souza couldn’t hold on to Soup in a Group (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Wilks Ranch) in the championship round and was bucked off after just 4.87 seconds. For his efforts, the Brazilian took home $10,031.83 and 210 world points, moving him from No. 15 to No. 12 in the world.

Rounding out the Top 5 for the event was 2017 World Champion Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) who had a powerful weekend winning Round 1 and the special 15/15 Bucking Battle which netted him an added 150 world points.

The Montana cowboy bucked off The Hard Stuff (K-C BuckingBulls/Bull Creek Bucking Bulls) in Ruond 3, but because of his impressive Round 1, he was still in the running for the final round. During the draft, he chose Budakon (Hart Cattle Co/Hale, on whom he made the 8 for 87.75 points. Lockwood took home $8,175.16 and 200 world points keeping him No. 2 in the world.

The Top 35 bull riders in the world will now head to Fairfax, Virginia, at the Eaglebank Arena September 21-22.
