FARMINGTON, Utah – Montana State track and field's Noah Martin was named the Big Sky Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Monday. It's the second time during the 2019-20 indoor season he's been recognized with the award.
Martin finished first in the men's high jump with a new collegiate best at the MSU Dual Meet Invitational on Friday, Jan. 24, in Worthington Arena. He became Montana State's first jumper to clear seven feet in 24 years when Mark Koefelda did it in 1995.
Martin first cleared 7-00.50 (2.14m) on his opening attempt at the height, then repeated the feat at 7-01.50 (2.17m). He moved into a tie for 18th on the Division I performance list with his jump and third all-time in the program's record book. He also placed first Friday in the pole vault by clearing 15-01.00 (4.60m).
The Spokane, Wash., native was previously selected as the Big Sky's Field Athlete of the Week on Dec. 9 following the Bobcat Preview which was held in Bozeman.
The Montana State track and field program returns to competition on Feb. 7 when the Bobcats host the MSU Indoor Open.
