BOZEMAN -- The Montana State University hockey team started off the new year with a solid showing in its series versus the Williston State Tetons at home in Bozeman.

The Bobcats entered the series as the fourth-ranked team in the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s Western Conference, while the Tetons came in as the 15th-ranked team. The Bobcats defeated the Tetons 5-3 on Thursday and 8-5 Sunday.

“I was very proud of the team for how we played against Williston,” said head coach Dave Weaver. “In both games we came from behind to eventually win, and it’s always good for the team to be tested.”

MSU will now turn its attention to the No. 1-ranked University of Providence Argos. The Bobcats will play the Argos in a home-and-home series this weekend. Friday's game will be in Bozeman with puck drop at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday's game will be on the road in Havre as a fundraiser for the Montana State University-Northern hockey program.
