BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Former Montana State offensive line coach Jason Eck was named the FCS assistant coach of the year by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) this week.

Eck spent the 2015 season with the Bobcats before taking the same position with South Dakota State the next year. For the 2019-20 season Eck took on the role of offensive coordinator with the Jacks.

Under his command the Jackrabbit offense sits second overall in the Missouri Valley Conference, averaging 32 points per game. South Dakota State sits at 8-3 overall ahead of its rivalry matchup this weekend with South Dakota.

During the 2015 season with MSU, Eck helped guide an offense that led the FCS in yards per play (6.82) and was fourth in total offense with an average of 519.8 yards per game.
