With a number of FCS top 25 teams losing last weekend, Montana continued its ascent up the polls during its open week.

The Grizzlies (5-1 overall, 2-0 Big Sky Conference) are now ranked fifth in the STATS FCS Top 25 and sixth in the FCS Coaches Top 25. UM returns to Big Sky play this week, traveling to Sacramento State for the Hornets' Homecoming game. The Hornets jumped to 15th in the STATS poll and 17th in the coaches after their impressive 34-21 win at Montana State, which dropped the Bobcats to 12th in both polls after they previously climbed to the No. 6 ranking in each.

Montana State (5-2, 2-1) wasn't the only top 25 team to slip in the polls this week. Ten other teams dropped at least one spot in at least one of the polls. Maine, Southeast Missouri State, Stony Brook, Southeastern Louisiana and Sam Houston State all fell out of the top 25.

Weber State -- fourth in the STATS rankings and fifth in the coaches poll -- is still the highest-ranked Big Sky Conference team. Sac State jumped UC Davis is 22nd in the coaches and 23rd in the STATS. For updated Big Sky Conference standings, please click here.

Eastern Washington, Idaho State and Portland State are receiving votes in both polls, which continue to be led by North Dakota State, James Madison and South Dakota State. The polls can be viewed by clicking here.
