Montana Grizzlies prepare for a staff that knows them well

MISSOULA — The Montana Grizzlies are inching towards their Week 6 matchup against the Idaho State Bengals.

Both the Griz and Bengals are coming off impressive Big Sky Conference wins and are looking to keep it rolling this Saturday. While the Griz are favored, Idaho State's coaching staff has some familiarity with this Griz program.

The Bengals' strength coach, Dan Ryan, was with the Griz for four seasons before going to UNLV. And their head coach, Rob Phenicie, was the quarterbacks coach from 2003-09.

Montana head coach Bobby Hauck knows he's going to have to change up the usual game plan this weekend.

"I think they’re really well coached. Those guys do a good job, Rob, as well as their assistant coaches. Their strength coach is a guy that’s been with us. They’re a fit and good-looking group. They know how we do business. We probably don’t have as good an idea how they do it because we haven’t been immersed in it, but as I mentioned we’ll have to change a few things to counteract that," said Hauck.

Montana and Idaho State kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in the Homecoming game for UM.
