BILLINGS — Billings Mustangs first baseman Pat Mills made his way to the Magic City via the lovely land of Kokomo, though he says it’s nothing like the Beach Boys song.
“Always. You listen to that song and think of home, at least for me," Mills said. "If anyone else in the United States listens to that they're thinking of Kokomo. I think it sounds like home, but you don't go to the beach in Kokomo, Indiana. Corn fields and factories. That's all it is."

Mills is now in Year 3 with the Mustangs. He’s been with the same host family each season and has become a little more familiar with all that Montana has to offer.
“Outside of baseball, a little bit of golf and exploring around the area. Gone to Beartooth Pass and gone to Yellowstone," Mills said. "Yellowstone was a great place because it's a beautiful national park with the caldera, hot springs, geysers and all the wildlife there is amazing.
“Me and my family went in 2024 and had a great time just driving around and looking at all the scenery."
You may have noticed the mustache that Mills is rocking. There isn’t a special reason behind it, but, man, does it look good.
“When I watched Top Gun: Maverick and Miles Teller had it, I had to give it a try. I ended up falling in love with having a mustache. I've had a goatee every once in a while, but I don't keep that around a lot," Mills said.
Maybe it’s the mustache that’s helped power this historic Mustang offense.
