BILLINGS – Two local golf student athletes have signed national letters of intent to join the Montana State University Billings Women’s Golf team for the 2020-21 season announced head coach Jeff Allen on Tuesday.

Billings Skyview High School product Amanda King and Roundup’s Brennan Larson will dawn the navy and gold next fall when they hit the links representing the Yellowjackets.

“I am very excited to add the two local recruits to our program,” said Coach Allen. “Both Brennan and Amanda are very high quality people and students that will be a great fit to our women’s team. They are both very coachable players and will continue to improve in our system.”

Amanda King
Billings, Montana
5’2”-Right-handed
Intended Major: Undecided
King joins MSUB after four successful years golfing for the Falcons. Her first two years with the program, she helped her team to a third place finish at state. She was named team captain of the team and gathered all-state honors her senior year. Her best rounds include shooting a 37 in nine holes and a 75 in 18.

Coach Allen on King: “Amanda is another high quality student and great addition to our women’s team. Amanda has really improved the last few years and that comes directly from the time she has put in. She accomplished a lot of personal bests in her senior season this last fall which has her eager to keep learning and improving in the game. I feel that she is a quality ball striker which is very important on the courses we play in the GNAC, all thanks to her solid fundamentals of the golf swing. Those solid fundamentals will help her continue that improvement trend as she takes the next step to the college game. I look forward to working with Amanda and am excited about what she brings to our program.”

King on choosing MSUB: “I chose MSB because I felt like it is the best fit for me to continue both my academic and golfing career. I have always heard great things about Coach Allen and Coach Drange and knew I wanted to play for them. Also being able to continue to play golf in my home town made the decision easy.”

Brennan Larson
Roundup, Montana
5’5”-Right Handed
Indented Major: Human Development

Hailing from just 53 miles north, Brennan Larson joins the ‘Jackets as a successful three sport athlete earning letters in golf, volleyball and basketball. The Roundup High School Panther recently finished the 2019 season in 10th place at the class b state tournament. She was named to the all-state squad her senior season and finished second in the division.

In 2018 Larson finished in ninth at state and was named to the all-state team and has qualified for the state tournament the past three seasons.

A successful volleyball player, Larson was named to the second team all-conference squad for 2019 and helped her team to a third place finish at state in the fall of 2018.

Coach Allen on Larson: “Brennan is a great addition to our women’s team. She is a great student and multi-sport athlete at Roundup H.S., which is something that I think is very important for today’s golfer. Brennan is great at keeping the golf ball in play and playing within herself. She has a great temperament for golf which allows her to stay focused and get the most out of her rounds. I feel that her greatest attribute is how coachable she is. She is motivated to work hard, focus solely on golf and put in the time to get better. Coming from a Class B school, she will play her senior golf season in the spring of 2020 and I look forward to her building on her previous success.”

Larson on choosing MSUB: “Montana State University Billings gives me the opportunity to continue playing golf at the highest level. The friendly and close knit campus community is appealing to me. I also like how close billings is to my hometown and family. I am looking forward to the exciting new chapter in my education and athletics. I am especially excited to build new relationships with a uniquely diverse group of people.”
