ASPEN, Colorado – A Bozeman athlete is competing on the biggest stage in extreme sports Saturday afternoon. Keaton Ward, who trains in Bozeman where his family lives, will be competing in the Winter X Games in Snow BikeCross.

The sport uses a motocross bike, but it has a ski for the front wheel and a snow track on the back. SnowBike Cross was brought into the X Games for the first time last year.

Ward was invited to compete in that event with fellow Snow BikeCross racer Josh Hill, a silver and bronze medalist in the X Games, who he trained with in Bozeman last season.

In his first career X Games appearance, Ward raced his way to the event finals, but in the championship race finished 10th out of 12 racers. Now he will come back for his second season at the Winter X Games and will be racing on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
