MCKINNEY, Texas – Billings golfer Brandon McIver tied for 43rd Friday in the second stage of qualifying to reach the Tour. Only the top 19 players plus ties advance to next month’s final round of qualifying.

McIver finished 3-under for the tournament and missed the cut by six strokes at TPC Craig Ranch north of Dallas. The former member of Oregon’s NCAA National Championship team shot even par in his first two rounds and 3-under-par in Thursday’s third round, before he closed with another even par score on Friday.

William Kropp of Edmond, Okla., won the qualifier by two strokes at 19-under.

McIver, a Billings West High School graduate, finished fourth last month at the opening stage of qualifying in Utah.

The Tour is one step below the PGA.
