BONNER — The first annual Bonner Mill Yard Companies Kickball Tournament began on Thursday. There were 11 teams playing a classic tournament style with the winners advancing until the one standing at the end is declared the champion.
Each team had a $300 fee to get into the tournament with all that money going to future trips and STEM programs at Bonner School.
One of the organizers of the event, Jess Nepstad, touched on how unique it was to be able to play a childhood favorite game while also supporting a good cause.
"I think for kickball, most folks have really fond memories from their childhood. And I thought it connected really nicely with school and it doesn't require a terrible about of athleticism, so provided no one gets hurt (Thursday), I think everyone can have fun and contribute to their teams, but more importantly contribute to the kids," said Nepstad.
