BOZEMAN – The Bozeman Bucks AA baseball team is once again off the the state tournament in Billings beginning on Saturday. Bozeman is heading into the tournament as a two-seed and will square off against the Billings Royals in the opening round.

The Bucks (46-16) are no strangers to high seeding at state, they tied the Missoula Mavericks for the best record in the conference this season, but lost out on the one-seed because of a tie-breaker. However, a high ranking hasn’t always served the Bucks well. In 2018, the No. 1 Bucks lost to No. 8 Great Falls 6-5 in the opening round at state. And the year before, much of the same, Bozeman came in with the best record in the conference and left without a state title.

But this year, they believe they can change the recently woes they’ve been having at state.

“I think we have a really good chance of winning the state championship this year. We have a lot of seniors that could probably go play (college) ball, but chose not to. But I think we have a really good chance this year,” said Bozeman junior catcher Alton Gyselman.

The Bucks will start their tournament run against the Billings Scarlets on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
