BOZEMAN — The American Legion Baseball Southern A district tournament kicked off Thursday morning in Bozeman at Heroes Park, and the top two teams came out of the gate looking championship-ready.

Verdeja finished the day going 3-for-4 at the plate. Belgrade will next meet the Butte Miners, who defeated the Dillon Cubs, 8-6, on Thursday.

The Gallatin Valley Outlaws, the second seed in the tournament, had an even better day at the plate, defeating the Livingston Braves 19-2 in five innings in the first round. GVO’s Gabriel DelGatty had five RBI in the game, including a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the third inning.
